Production Meeting Reflection 3

As a director, this week not only did I need to complete a Risk Assessment form for the Gallery I had to help my team members with their own tasks. I had to guide and give my opinions on what I thought would be good for our show. As it is exam season some people have not been in due to their exam leave which meant that some duties weren't fulfilled as fast as I hoped. However, we all managed to turn that around towards the end of the week and had finally come on top with what needed to be done this week. Listed below are the names of everyone that I had helped out this week.

Farhana (VT Operator) - Farhana needed to film and edit the VT's that I had decided to put into the brief. Last year there were two people on hand with this particular job role, however this year Farhana is on her own completing the duties. Considering this job is a two person role Farhana needed slight guidance on what needed to be done. I had given her a rundown on how I wanted the VT to look and what I wanted to happen. I also helped her do a VT of an interview. The reason I decided to put myself forward for this is because I will not be on camera on the live day so the audience at home will think I am nowhere near the studio. This was successful as it was done quickly and to the standard that I wanted it to be. I then gave her another run down on how I wanted to edit the montage and two VT's, because she has used the editing programmes before i was comfortable with leaving her to it whilst consistently checking she was okay.

Prabhjyot (Graphics Operator) - Prabhjyot was in charge of how the graphics will look and be done, as the running order and the presenters scripts were being done this week I had noticed there were a couple more graphics I wanted that i felt would make the show look better. An example of this would be that in the VT of 'Street Beat' I wanted people to rate the music video, as they were being rated i wanted the graphic of how much they had rated the music video out of 5. Prabhjyot agreed that this would be a good idea and that he will be able to do it. I also asked him to put some animation on the logo which is something that he was ready to do.

Taylor (Set Designer) - Taylor needed to gather some props this week, she asked my opinion on what she had gathered and I thought they were brilliant. They were all easily accessible went really well with the set. I felt comfortable with Taylor doing her job role with little guidance.

Prinul (Floor Manager) - This week Prinul had helped Farhana do some filming alongside myself. We decided that it will be good to use Prinul as he is also not on camera during live day.

Jada and TJ (Presenters) - Jada and TJ needed a little help to get the ball rolling when it came to writing the script. I advised they have a look at other shows to see how the conversation begun with their guests etc. When the ball eventually started to pick up pace the script was pretty straight forward and done the way that we were all pleased with.

Ellie (Vision Mixer) - This week Ellie worked independently and was able to do her duty on her own with no guidance, she needed to do test transitions from one shot to another. From looking at her blog she has tested them really well and had a variety of different changes.

Kaval (Sound Mixer) - Kaval had kept constant communication with me this week on what sound effects and music I wanted. I had given him a range of sound of effects that I felt would go best with the show. With the music I had given him a brief of upbeat fast tempo but non distracting to the audience. Kaval worked really well and found a couple of songs that went along with the idea I gave him, he presented them to the class and we all had a joint decision on Salena Gomez - Come and Get It.

Ravinder (Lighting) - Ravinder was set the task to test different lighting gels. He had the help of Kaval to help set the lights up he had originally come up with the gel combinations himself, but throughout the testing we had decided to do some on the spot to get more of a variety. We had decided that blue gels gave more of a unwelcoming atmosphere to the audience so we decided to stay away from that. In total we had tested a minimum of 10 gels and decided together that Orange and Purple would go best to set up the set. He also pointed out that the background (which is purple and yellow) will go well with this chosen gel.

Antony ( Camera Operator) - Antony had looked into a variety of shot types that he feel will look good for our show. I had told him the 4 locations that I would want to use throughout the show, so from there Antony had come up with different shot types to make sure everything is shown which is the whole purpose of a multi camera show.

Next week I will be starting and hopefully completing the master script. This would mean I would need help from the presenters, camera operator, sound mixer, graphic generator and vision mixer to create the master script so they know their ques for the show! It is important they they know they ques for the show to run smoothly.
